We wanted to design a pair of vases inspired by the sea. Pelagus means “open sea” in Latin. They are made in dark brown stoneware clay and glazed from the middle up, creating a striking contrast between the raw material and the deep blue glaze.

The main challenge was the oval vase. Its height made it prone to collapsing, but we managed to create very tall forms while keeping the pattern clean and precise. The result is a series of vases that balance strength, elegance, and the fluidity of the open sea.
